There have also been several new fixes to fishing:

• Royal Monkfish more likely to contain Precious Locket (it was previously annoyingly random). [14 December 2010]
• Open lava around Sulfuron Spire (Mount Hyjal) only contains 5% Volatile Fire again (down from a reported 100%) [13 December 2010].
• Lavascale Minestrone recipe requires 500 cooking skill to learn (up from 450).
• Fishing skill-ups from 500 to 525 now require about 10 catches per skill point (up from 1).

• Train Illustrious Angler up to 525 fishing skill. Realm firsts available at launch.
• Catch and cook Cataclysm fish from new zones (officially). Also fish for Volatile Water and Fire, and Alchemists’ Albino Cavefish.
• Complete guild pool-fishing achievements to gain the recipe for the new feast, Seafood Magnifique Feast.
• Gain a Lure Master Tackle Box, the first fishing bag.

• Leveling 425-525 uses new Cataclysm pigments and inks. Like WotLK, the final 25 skill points are tough to power-level. Update: Power-leveling is a little easier – Runescroll of Fortitude II now gives skill-ups, and Twilight Highlands vendor items are no longer sold limited supply.
• New Cataclysm Products include Relics, Mysterious Fortune Cards, and Adventurer’s Journals. New sets of Darkmoon Cards can be made at 525 skill. No Glyphs require Cataclysm.
• New tier of Scribe-only shoulder enchants at 500 skill.

El’s Inscription has been updated with changes. For full details, read about the Cataclysm.

• Catches, no-junk skills, and pool types have switched between many Old Azeroth zones, but there is nothing new to catch – full details. The Fish Finder is accurate.
• Limnologist and Oceanographer achievements can be started.
• New Arcanite Fishing Pole design. Nat Pagle’s Extreme Angler FC-5000 finally available to Alliance.

• Azeroth Daily Fishing Quests are available (discussion), plus nearby cooking dailies.
• Weather-Beaten Fishing Hat now +3 Stamina, +3 Spirit.
• Recipe for Feathered Lure no longer sold.

El’s Anglin’ has been extensively updated re-written for patch 4.0.3a and the Cataclysm. Cataclysm will be required to enter new zones (cross-boundary fishing now hot-fixed… twice), level past 450, gain a Lure Master Tackle Box. Please let us know if you find anything new or incorrect.

• Each glyph recipe requires 3x ink, so producing glyphs costs (in herbs) at least twice as much as in WotLK.
• Most glyphs (recipe, item, or applied) should convert directly into new Cataclysm glyphs during the next live patch (before Cataclysm).

Goblin investors may spot an opportunity for profit, by creating glyphs before the patch, and selling them after! But be careful: A few named glyphs convert into “Charred Glyphs” – junk items worth only 50s. Details are incomplete and untested, but here is a list of expected conversions.
