Patch 3.0.2
Expected major fishing changes in the new Patch 3.0.2:
- Many fishing achievements can now be completed.
- Azeroth’s pool names have changed.
Level fishing more than twice as fast– most leveling appears to be unchanged (more detailed confirmation still wanted).
The Fish Finder contains many smaller changes. Please post anything new you find on the forums (or email).

I wonder why the fishing leveling change didn’t go in, hopefully they’re just saving it for WotLK.

Im leveling my brother in laws fishing right now, from 340 to 360 i am getting a skill up every 10 fish, instead of the previous 11.5 fish. Small small change.
The 10 catches is interesting. I was getting 9 or 10 at around skill 320, which was a little lower. So it is possible that the maximum number of catches is now capped at 10, which makes 300+ about 10% quicker. Of course that may be a bug… It still seems strange that such a late change was made between PTR/beta and live, and then the final change was so tiny.

Maybe they upped the fishing rate on the PTR/Beta to let people who hadn’t leveled it get a chance to assist with the testing process.
