Excellent guide, as always. I would just suggest that you mention any sort of water walking ability or potion can let you fish in Stormwind without ever seeing so much as a pier of the harbor via the route you described. No muss, no fuss, no guards, no enemy players.

A good transportation tip not mentioned in your guide:
Horde visitors to Ironforge can use the Booty Bay to Gnomeregan transporters. It’s a very short trip from Orgrimmar to Ratchet, then take the boat, and then the transporter located near the inn. Make sure you have the transporter item in your bags, and not in the bank (though there is a bank both in Ratchet and Booty Bay).
Once you arrive at Gnomeregan, simply ride east until you reach the hill leading up to the gates of the city.
Thanks for the suggestions (here and on the forums). The guide has been updated.

here’s a couple more thoughts:
if you have a warlock handy who’s not planning on doing anything for 10-15 minutes (maybe he/she’s soloing or hanging out in the AH), party up and bum up a soulstone (you need to stay in his/her party in order for the soulstone to stay on you). it saves you one corpse run when entering an enemy city.
also, if you have the portals deck trinket (10% chance to rez), equipping that will help as well (just don’t equip the trinket if you have a soulstone on you, save the trinket till after you use the soulstone).
if you get netted by a guard, odds are you’ll die soon after, even if you use your escape trinket (which you should also have equipped btw…humans aside) so a rez can make finding a hiding spot a much more pain-free experience.
also, i suggest keeping on all your gear for the ride in the city. your gear might just buy you a few more seconds to find a guard-free spot before you die. once you get to your fishing spot, then getting naked is a good idea.
A correction: the Booty Bay->Gnomeregan transporter is for any horde, not just engineers. You only need to be at least level 20 and start the quest Chief Engineer Scooty in Orgrimmar, which sends you to Booty Bay to talk to Scooty and get the Goblin Transponder.

Ive been working on this since early this afternoon. I got through Stormwind into the Forlorn Cavern in Ironforge without dying as an elemental troll shaman. I simply ran to the Harbor with water walking and ghost wolf (both water walking and water breathing are glyphed, mind you, no reagents), and got The Fishing Diplomat achievements.
*Note: All you need to do is stand within the perimeter of The Stormwind Harbor and fish for this achievement.*
Anywho, once I got that out of the way, I ran up the stairs, aggro’ed about two level 65 gaurds, then several 75 guards, I thought I was a goner until I used Lifeblood which totally saved my butt. (For those of you who don’t know, its an herbalism Self-HoT, healing for 1200 health over about, 5 seconds, don’t quote me on the numbers, I may be wrong, but its instant cast.) After I had been saved by my spell, I jumped into the canals which disaggro’ed the gaurds. This was kind of a surprise to me since I didn’t know what to expect, I happily swam over to the Dwarven district, no problems and get back up on land. I mounted up and headed into the Dwarven district, and of all the people I had to run into, it was a ?? (presumable 80 or 75) elite patroller. Lukcily he only managed to hit me once and I zoomed into the tram.
The tram went smoothly I saw a draenei shaman who was friendly, and she questioned me so I equipped my fishing pole.
I zoomed out of the tram, through tinker town and the hall, no probelm reaching the Cavern, once I got there I sped into the water, popped up water breathing and dis’aggroe’d the guards…
Thats how I successfully entered Ironforge, unscathed!
My time here in Ironforge though, has been different, many corpse runs…Many fish…I got from the 25 fish achievement to the 500 fish achievement, and counting. Not to mention my fishing skill level got from 316, to about 3769-371-ish…I kinda of forgot. ANYWHO, Id like to say thanks for the guide, and hope my contributions have helped! Thanks again!
With love
The soon to be ‘Maxed’ Angler

I can tell you what worked for me as an Alliance hunter fishing in Orgrimmar. It took me about 5 hours to get Ol’ Crafty and during that time I was only killed about 8 times.
After the obligatory run in and subsequent corpse run courtesy of the new level 75 guards, I went to the Valley of Spirits and hid right behind the Horde portal hut. Making sure I had Aspect of the Beast on (so any portalling-in hunters couldn’t see me on track) I would then lie down and fish away. I must’ve had 250 Horde mere feet away from me during my 5 or so hours in Org and most of them never even knew I was there. Now I know what it feels like to be a rogue… :)

I had read this suggestion in a few places so decided to give it a shot:
Pick up the ‘Crocolisks in the City’ quest before heading out to capture either Old Crafty or Old IronJaw. Any time the Baby Crocolisk shows up just recast without looting it (or discard it if you have autolooting on). My Draenai caught Old Crafty in 8 casts which safed me from many a ganking.
–Many thanks to the Horde who booed the Troll Hunter who used me as a pincushion.

Got em both is a total of 77 casts :)

Tried to enter through Gnomeregan but the elevator wouldn’t take me up. Is it glitching or has this been changed to keep Horde from using it to enter dwarven lands?
