3.3 Techniques

On the patch 3.3 Public Test Realm, Dalaran's Inscription Supplier sells a limited supply of recipes to create "techniques":

Technique: Glyph of Eternal Water - Inscription 250, for level 50 Mage - Your Summon Water Elemental now lasts indefinitely, but your Water Elemental can no longer cast Freeze.
Technique: Glyph of Rapid Rejuvenation - Inscription 375, for level 15 Druid - Your haste now reduces the time between the periodic healing ticks of your Rejuvenation spell.
Technique: Glyph of Quick Decay - Inscription 375, for level 15 Warlock - Your haste now reduces the time between periodic damage ticks of your Corruption spell.

All 3 should require Snowfall Ink and Resilient Parchment to make. Update: The recipes can now be learnt.

3.2.2: Runescroll of Fortitude

A new group scroll has appeared on the patch 3.2.2 PTR: Runescroll of Stamina is trained at 440 Inscription skill. The recipe is green (low chance of a skill-up) until at least 450. Each use of the recipe requires 1 Snowfall Ink and 5 Resilient Parchment, and makes 5 "Runescroll of Fortitude". These scrolls require level 80 to use, but can be traded. Using the scroll increases Stamina by 165 for all party and raid members for 1 hour. This Stamina bonus acts like a normal scroll buff.

Archaeology: The Evolution of Inscription

The first details of Cataclysm's new secondary profession, Archaeology, were revealed at BlizzCon. Many Archaeology techniques sound a lot like Inscription: Archaeology allows ancient glyphs to be filled. And you may recall that "deciphering" was an Inscription skill that briefly appeared during beta testing. Why is Archaeology a new secondary profession, and not a continuation of Inscription? 3.2 Inscription Changes

From the patch notes:

New Glyph of Claw for druids (reduces energy cost of Claw by 5). Taught by trainers. Requires 100 skill. Uses Midnight Ink and Light Parchment.
Master's Inscriptions improved:
- 120 AP and 15 Critical
- 70 Spell Power and 6 MP5
- 60 Dodge and 15 Defense
- 70 Spell Power and 15 Critical.

Book of Glyph Mastery Drop Rate Increased

"The book of glyph mastery has had its drop rate increased."

The Book of Glyph Mastery is used to research most of the new glyphs. Glyph of Envenom has also been removed.

Rare world drops, Book of Glyph Mastery, research new glyphs. Books can be traded. No new Northrend/Minor research.
Dual specs = dual demand for glyphs!
Lexicon of Power no longer needed to apply glyphs.
Dropped tome recipe, Technique: Rituals of the New Moon.
7 new trained glyphs, 1 new trained tome.

3.1 Inscription Changes [Updated]

Patch 3.1 PTR is now being tested:

Trainable recipes are now listed here - including new glyphs and Twilight Tome (off-hand). These are all confirmed available on the PTR.
No known new discoveries yet.
No summoned Lexicon of Power. Zarhym confirms that no Lexicon is required to change specs.
New Grand Master trainer (Arthur Denny) and vendor (Fanii) at the Argent Tournament, on the north-east side of Icecrown. They do not teach or sell anything new. Yet.

Summoned Lexicon of Power

Coming in patch 3.1, from the Talent Dual Spec Q&A:

Scribes will make an item that allows a Lexicon of Power to be summoned.
Anyone can buy this item. It will require a group to summon, and cannot be used in combat or Arenas.
The item will exist for a short period of time, like a repair bot. No decision on whether the item will be reusable or consumed.
Lexicon of Power will remain in capital cities.

As expected, each dual spec will use a different set of glyphs.

Patch 3.0.8 Inscription Roundup [Updated Again]

This is a list of all known Inscription changes in patch 3.0.8, which is currently being tested. Updated for patch version 9464. Changes include an Ink Trader in Dalaran, new discovered minor glyphs, off-hands that no longer require Inscription to use, more vellum made by recipes, and changes to the function of some existing glyphs.
