Materials 100-150

Mill 160 herbs (32 millings) that produce Golden Pigment/Burnt Pigment. Any from: Grave Moss, Kingsblood, Liferoot, or Wild Steelbloom. You should gain at least 84 Golden Pigment and 6 Burnt Pigment.

1 Light Parchment may be required, but most recipes use Common Parchment. 16 Common will be needed. Parchment is sold by Inscription vendors.

Leveling 100-150

Strange Tarot (using Dawnstar Ink, made from the rare Burnt Pigment) remains "orange" until skill 150, which allows us to do something cunning:

Milling sometimes produces rare secondary pigments. In this case, Burnt Pigment. Since you will gain secondary pigments when milling, they should ideally be used instead of extra basic (primary pigment) inks. So, at skill 125 we will produce Dawnstar Ink, which we will then use to make Strange Tarot just before skill 150. You may be unlucky, and not manage to mill enough rare pigment. If you are unlucky, just make more of the basic ink, and produce an extra glyph or scroll to gain the missing skill points.

Between skill 125 and 150 train Expert rank at any Inscription trainer. You will need to be at least level 20. Training will cost 50 silver.

Care must now be taken when using the 3-point skill-ups: For example, if making Lion's Ink allows you to reach 105 skill (rather than 104), the glyph recipes suggested at skill 104 will have already turned yellow. Yellow means only a chance of 1 skill-up, which would be a huge waste of materials! Instead, immediately advance to the glyphs trained at 105 skill, which use the same materials and are orange (with a guaranteed 3-point skill-up), but make 2 rather than 1. Your aim should always be make glyphs while they are orange: You will probably need to vary slightly from the exact list in this guide. Special care should be taken right at the end of this section: Ideally your final glyph should be made at 144 skill, to gain a 3-point "slingshot" to 147. For example, if the final glyph were made at 142, those 3 points would take your skill to 145, which would require a lot more Strange Tarot to be produced.

What are Tarot? Each use of the recipe creates a random card from a Deck. There are several cards to collect in each deck. Anyone can then use the deck to start a quest, and gain some gear. Cards can be traded, so people can buy missing cards at auction. Read more about Tarot cards »
